Got you! You thought we took Rhys out for a cookery at Glasto, didn't you? Nope, but Rhys has been on a hat hunt for cooking. First it was a proper chef's hat, then a cowboy one and now it's a deerstalker. Which one do you fancy most? Never mind, because it's not time for some sweets... Rhys is making cookies, get your notes out!
Rhys: I've been shopping without really knowing the exact ingredients to cookies... The best way to do this is google for Ben & Jerry's cookie recipe , they're sooo good! This doesn't count as cheating by they way...
Oh! I got almost all the ingredients needed, I did forget about the vanilla extract, baking soda and chocolate chips. This, however, will give us a chance to have fun with it a little. You can always replace the chocolate chips with your favourite chocolate.
SUPERSWEET has no measuring cups, how predictable! We'll just have to wing this then. Nice and easy... all-purpose flour in a decorative but not so functional mixing bowl. And brown sugar in the other...
Warm butter, beat it with sugar.
Egg, and vanilla extract next...
Oooh... Look who's getting really good at modelling now!
Watch this...
Step by step, and BIG!
This vanilla extract bottle is so tightly sealed, don't copy me.
But I'm going to risk my teeth falling out...
Now mix well... For this other bowl (SS: We're not sure why Rhys feels the need to double up the bowl. Is he worried there will be a hole at the bottom? Let's go along so he doesn't get mad and throw things.), mix flour, salt and baking soda.
Then add that bowl to the batter and mix...
(SS: Surely this looks wrong, Rhys? It's so liquid!) I think you're right, there isn't enough flour. Let's put some more in. I'm just guessing here and it's all your fault for not having the right things in the kitchen! Now this is more like it! SUPERSWEET, pick your favourite chocolate please...
This is what I pick, Aero Mints are my favourite!
This is what SUPERSWEET picks, of course... Reese's Cups...
Chop them up, throw them in (separately) and see whose cookies will taste better. I prefer to do this by hand, don't forget to eat some of the dough, that's the best bit about baking cookies!
Oh wow! You have greaseproof paper? This is phenomenal! It's the last thing I'd expect you guys to have! OK, now just lay it out on a baking tray, drop the scoops and flatten with the back of a spoon.
Stick in the oven, you only need 11 minutes if you want the cookies to stay soft. Use a timer, because you will forget. And voila! While you wait for the cookies to cool on the tray, clean a rack so you can let them cool completely.
Transfer and lay out nicely...
Competition time, who's a better chocolate eater?
(SS: We're the one editing, what do you think we're going to say?)
