Amy, Charles and Rebecca, one big happy family!
"Hello Slow Club, I think you're great, hope these questions aren't too dull and haven't been asked 500 times before! Some are a bit silly so feel free to ignore them!" Amy Theoretical Girl says, Yes, it's part two of Chain Interview Round One, and both members of Slow Club are present! Talks about Razorlight, check; diva talk, check; roller hockey, check!
Amy: How does it feel to have unleashed your fantastic album on the world? Are you pleased with it? Is there anything you would have done differently?
Charles: I am so glad its finally out. I think there are always things you would change just as it goes to press but I am really happy with how it came out.
Rebecca: It feels really great to finally have it out. It took a long time to get straight and as we wanted so finally having something physical is awesome. I think it's hard to say we'd do something different, touring can warp your brain and make you hate certain songs, so we'd end up taking things off that we shouldn't because they are still songs that work, we have just grown tired of them.
Amy: How do you think your music will have progressed by this time next year? Is there a change in direction coming? Will you be working that nu-jazz-metal-funk-goth vibe on album number two?
Charles: Ha ha funk?? Jazz's ugly cousin?? I doubt it but we have been working on new material and it's very exciting to think what the second album's going to be like.
Rebecca: We want to make a new sound, definitely push on what we do to make it more danceable.
Amy: I saw you play at White Heat and Rebecca drummed on a chair. Is the chair a special chair or just the nearest one handy? Is the chair picked for any particular resonant qualities? And does it have a name like Miles the organ? :)
Charles: The chair was picked for it's fine tarmbra (GCSE music) and the organ might be coming back soon.
Rebecca: Yeah the chair was special as it had certain parts of it that rang out really nicely. We don't really play 'Me and You' any more so the chair doesn't come along. Also people got a bit obsessed with it and it was the only thing people would talk about so, being grumpy buggers we stopped using it.
Amy: Do you ever run out of things to say to each other when on tour and end up demanding separate dressing rooms!? :)
Charles: Being in a Fiat Punto for 4 hours at a time can be testing but seperate dressing rooms is a bit Razorlight, isnt it?
Rebecca: We ran out months ago, we just hash through the same old shit. It's cool cos we can sit in slience or talk non stop still, plus we've been on the road with a few more people recently so that has been cool. I do love having my own room in hotels, but it's really rare a girl gets such luxury!
Amy: Which of the two if you is the most high maintenance? Have you ever made any diva style demands? What one thing could you not live without on tour?
Charles: Maria Taylor!! Whiskey and ginger ale.
Rebecca: I'm more high maintenance I bet, but i dont think I am ever a diva, there is just no point. No one would take me seriously if I was, it's not like we're U2. Can't live without wifi on tour, it's so sweet if we can get to a venue and just YouTube laughing babies until we play.
Amy: How was touring in America?
Charles: Really awsome, a trip I won't forget. Santa Cruz is like Blackpool.
Rebecca: SO AMAZING. I want to go back ASAP. LA blew my mind. The shows were awesome, and we toured with the Wave Pictures and Casiokids and the Moshi boys so it was constant fun.
Amy: Your lyrics are wonderful. Are there any that haven't made the cut?
Charles: Thank you. Loads don't make the cut. Most of them actually.
Rebecca: Lots go by the way side, if one of us has got too personal or abstract. We often disagree, but we ultimately know what is right and wrong.
Amy: You have a song called 'Trophy Room'. Do you actually own any trophies and what were they awarded for?
Charles: I do actually own a trophy for playing roller hockey. The glory days.
Rebecca: I have tonne of dancing and cricket trophies! Yep, I used to play cricket!
Amy: Name one thing that makes Slow Club utterly unique.
Charles: We are a boy and girl two piece and I own a pair of red trousers.
Rebecca: Our super sexy looks.
Amy: And finally, is there anybody you would like to big up? Any bands/artists/designers/general good guys that you are enjoying/inspired by right now?
Charles: Tom Newell (http://www.tomjnewell.com/). Everything on Toast (http://www.myspace.com/everythingontoast )- my flatmate's label. Mayor Mcca's (http://www.myspace.com/mayormcca)new album out soon sounds awsome produced by David Glover.
Rebecca: A band from Sheffield called the Heebie Jeebies (http://www.myspace.com/theheebiefuckinjeebies)! They are going to be on the end of the tour with us, can't wait! I love all designers, gimmie some clothes please!!!
