Peter Morén is now paving another music career sans Bjorn & John. He's got his debut album The Last Tycoon out next month, May 5th on Wichita, and hasn't yet got his own videos. "I hardly ever watch videos these days," he would say. Nevertheless, SUPERSWEET has ploughed through YouTube and found a nice live clip of his new song 'Le Petite Coeur' in black and white, so check it out (above). And as for below, this is what Peter has to say: "So here are a few of classic vids from my childhood and pre-childhood." Ooh, he's done a much better into than us!
Elvis Costello and the Attractions: Radio Radio
Peter: This one came before the classic MTV-era and basically features the band rocking out in a phony, geeky way (great dancemoves), apart from the great lo-fi camera-trickery of Costello in front of a giant radio. Great song too.
Paul Simon: You Can Call Me Al
Peter: I'm not a huge Chevy Chase-fan, but this video is still one of the best ever. All it takes is 2 people in a room. I play this song now when I DJ, an all-time favourite.
A-ha: Take On Me
Peter: Maybe the best popsong ever. I cover it now at shows in a kind of african-folk-way. A classic video of course. But the lyric is weird. Norwegians are always a bit after swedes. They are probably catching up on the English now.
The Housemartins: Happy Hour
Peter: More extremely nerdy dancemoves, taking the Costello-style and stretching it to the limit. Great clay animations. The Housemartins were my big idols when I was ten years old.
Vampire Weekend: A-Punk
Peter: Ok, a new one after all. I happened to see this one. Really funny. Great colours and movements. It has the Costello-vibe, The Housemartins-vibe and even the Paul Simon-vibe, so it pretty much sums up this list. It lacks a lot of Stone Roses though. But I really like their album.
