RAT:ATT:AGG or simply Ratattagg are the band that we had been looking for for a long time. They have the sound and look that best represent what SUPERSWEET is all about (which is why they are playing our first ever gig - excuse the plugging). They are exactly everything we are: pop, rock, random, fun, colourful, messy, and most of the times, they don't really make sense but they work hard and love doing what they do. Despite a few technical problems tonight, they ploughed through and were still as fun-fun-fun to watch per usual.

The buggy accident: You might have heard about it, or you might not. But see this thing in the picture above? One of these buggies tipped over on Friday during Boy Kill Boy and a lot of people were telling us about how it lost the brake and tipped over downhill. Funnily enough it was actually a member of SUPERSWEET team that was also on that buggy!
Yeah, funny now but wasn't funny then when the Kooks tour manager was stuck under the vehicle and shortly after had to be stretchered off. He's alright now though, thankfully, but the poor girl driver was crying so much thinking she had killed him. While the other dude sprained his wrist/ankle, we were told that our editor sprang back up so fantastically fast as if trained for this day. What a legend!

Peaches and the Giant Cock: In an ideal world, this could have been the perfect title for a novel. But it's all reality. The inflatable willie was used as a prop and a substitute drummer during 'Shake Yer Dix' for who else but Peaches. It can be viewed as an upgraded version of two dancers and Peaches in strap-on's last year. How many men did it take to pump it up? Two.

Monologues: Giant Drag's Annie is really great at talking all by herself, isn't she? Here are some examples of her sharp wit and child-like charms:
"Don’t burn people’s tents, you should sit down and stick your penis in there. At least they won’t have to go to the hospital."
"I used to go out with this guy, he was much older than me. Then we broke up and I was really really sad, thinking I'd never see him again, and then one day, I turned the television on, and there he was! On MTV, miming to [Wicked Game]. So I'm going to sing this song for him."
"We have a signing at 2.30 so please come and get your testicle and tooth signed."
And then she politely apologised to the next band as she has left a pool of spit for them to swim in... Ah... we love them!

Goodbyes - Just as there are so many new bands mushrooming, there are also equally many bands splitting up this summer. Les Incompetents have already said their goodbyes, but now it was shockingly revealed that Reading/Leeds were to be Hope Of The States' last shows. We hope that by next year, there will be some of the early 2000's bands left to watch.

Everyone's talking about The Long Blondes. We heard about them and liked their music for a long time but somehow never got round to checking them out. With a stroke of luck, their early slot was magically delayed and we caught them just in time for the last song. Kate Jackson (vocals) was truly inspiring and stylish in her matching bright turquoise scarf/nails/tights that oozed zestful youth and led her band into a truly refreshing direction. They must be doing something right because they're now a girl(-ish) band that have effortlessly preceded their peers.

Love Not Riots A simple campaign started by Amy and Zena to reduce the riots started at festivals: "We all want the festivals still around and safe for our children to come and enjoy as much as we do!" So there were millions of their big badges flying around all over the festival. And the outcome? No fights, no fires, no riots! Hooray!
But there was this wrestling going on in the VIP area though that we found rather amusing. It was a real fight alright, started by these two lads (pictured above). Then it got quite serious and they got down on the ground rolling. Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. guy, Sam Duckworth saw it, he charged at them on full speed, landed on his back on top of the two wrestling blokes, bounced to the side, got up and hit the bar! We think he kind of made his political statement in a way: love not riots!

Best live act we saw at the Festival this year were of course THE Secret Machines, as always. We have seen them millions of times and every time we never quite know what to expect and they keep getting better and better at what they do. And once again, their show was all about obscurity: things you couldn't hear, couldn't see, couldn't experience and most of all, things that you couldn't comprehend. It's all those untouchables that make you crave it even more and become addicted to. Here's the message saying there is hope yet in music.

Be You Own PET played a highly energetic set and everything seemed to come out straight from their hearts from the beginning to the end. By far their best live show seen which saw Nathan (bass player) attempted to crowdsurf against security guards' will, Jonas dancing about in all-whites and a lengthy emotional group hug at the end.
Right after the gig, SUPERSWEET were told by our favourite PET Jamin Orrall (drums) that this was his last show with the band as it was time for him to move on and concentrate on other projects such as his other band Jeff with his brother Jake, and his own (BYOP's American) DIY label Infinity Cat.
We wish Jamin all the success in his future.

Haven't you guessed it yet?
YOU!
We're going to be boring and go with the classic because this is what it's all about and will always be. A great festival can't happen without the great support from punters. This year the focus has really been brought back to music, which could only be the reflection on you music lovers more than anything else. Thank God there was all of you who were so well-behaved and supportive of new bands and making them feel right at home by showing them that the true stars don't necessarily belong to Main Stage any more. Well done!
